Production Blog: Recording Process

Image
During the break, my group and I decided to start the recording process of our final task. We started piece by piece on recording the first scene of our video. We thought it would have been a little difficult but it was fairly easy. The first scene of our video takes place in a teenage girls room about to commit suicide. We used different camera angles to slow a little part of the room and to show the face of the girl and the reason why she is about to do what she is about to do (the computer). The props that we used for this scene was the computer and her own bed set. This is really the only items that you see in the first few seconds of the film. We used me, Aniya Smith, as the girl in the first clip. The rest of the members will be recording until it is their time to act. During the first scene, we met up at my home to record. I had parent validation that it was okay for all members to come to my home. We have chose to do this for serious health reasons due to us being in a glo...

Storyboard Blog

Image
This particular story board was hard. We had to do 70 boxes and make sure each of them was correct. We all contributed to the story board by pitching ideas. Although we all contributed only one person did the drawing. Hope you enjoy it!

Production Blog: Where it all Happens

Image
In our film, we have many places where we want to shoot. Though the film is a short one, we want to make about two or three locations our filming spot. The image that we put in our head for the film is it to start off with our main character. The main character, a girl, will be sitting in her bedroom about to make a terrible mistake. Since our film is about suicide and suicide prevention and we know that most people commit suicide in their own homes, we thought a bedroom would be one of the perfect places that we would film this scene in. Being that this location is being shot in a bedroom, it does mean that we will be filming in one of our group members homes. Because of the fact that we are in a pandemic, this can happen two ways. First, we can either come together as a group and film at the actors home, or the actor can record this specific scene alone. We made this a decision because we are in a global pandemic and some people wouldn't want just an...

Production Blog: What if Something Happens?

Image
When creating a film, you always want ton make sure that every participant is safe and well. To continue on making the production, my group and I made establishments to make sure that we are all safe and well to make our film. We set up task for each participant in the group to take part of. All of us will be sure to get tested before we start recording. We wont go and take the actual test, but we will definitely make sure we ask questions such as "Have you been around anybody with COVID the last 14 days?" and other important questions related to that. We will also check each participants temperature to make sure no one is in the fever range before we all come in contact with one another. Materials that we would need to keep everyone safe would be items such as a thermometer and cleaning wipes for equipment to for COVID reasons. For other reasons, we want to bring a first aid kit. Though we really don't need a first aid kit because in our film we aren't doing anything...

Production Blog: Establishing Roles

Image
Currently in our final task we are officially picking up progress. Though we haven't actually started to record, we are in the process of deciding who is doing what in the task. About a week or two ago we were really stuck on who wants to do what. Someone wanted to be outside of the video recording, someone wanted to be the main character, others wanted to direct the whole video and one of the group members didn't want to be in the video at all. But today, March 10, 2021, we have finalized and established what we are doing in the film.            In the film, there will be at least 2-3 main characters in the film since theres only four of us in the group. The other group member will most likely be the recorder if it is possible and okay with Cambridge. Because the film is about two minutes, we want to try to fit all of the actors in the film with an appropriate time period. For the actors, we don't them to have to stress a...

Production Blog: What Were Doing Now

Image
My group and I are still in the beginning of the process of making our film. We are trying to come up with more places to film so that the video will be more interesting and complete. We are currently chopping up some different ideas f how the film is going to play out such as what will really happen and what we want our story plot to look like. Our initial view of the film was to begin it with a girl in her room about to make the worst decision of her life. What the young girl does makes the film, the film. It makes the film connect throughout the two minutes of what is playing. We know most of what we want the film to look like, we just need to finalize it and make it come together. There are also other things that the group still hasn't talked bout. But we know what we want the main concept of the film to be we just need basic things such as costumes, extra actors and music. We know who and what we want are music to be and who it would be by. One of the members in the group, Ro...

Filming and Editing Blog 1: Setting and Cast

Image
Where my group and I stand in this project is that we are currently figuring out how we are setting up our film. Currently, we are figuring out who will be our cast in the film and where would our film take place. Right now, we know that the four of us will be somewhere in the film because we are the main characters. We do want to ask if there is a possibility of us being able to add any extras just t make the film look more realistic. For extras, we are just planning on to add people that we personally know like family members or other friends but they won't be included in the whole film just a certain part that marks importance of the film. We are not 100% sure where we are going to locate our scene but we are thinking one of our scenes should be in a bedroom and another at a park. The bedroom setting will be the very first setting in the film. This will be the first thing that the audience sees and the bedroom scene starts the film. This scene will be one of the main parts in th...

Planning Blog: Script

Image
Scripts. Planning for scripts is hard, even when working with a group. My group and I have spent hours having group conversations and brainstorming. There were many times when we all were stuck and couldn't figure out what to script next or the different moves a character should make. Although we struggled, we did it. Take a look at some of what we came up with it.  Dialogue, Scene 1 No dialogue Dialogue, Scene 2 Alex; Ugh, another one? Mom; What's wrong hunny? Alex: Nothing, schools just tiring. Mom; You'll be okay. You got it.  Dialogue, Scene 3 Alex: *sobbing* I cant do this anymore. Kelsie; Hey Alex, I have so much to tell you Alex: What happened, are you okay? Kelsie; No, let me tell you what Tyrone did. Alex; Okay, I'm listening. Kelsie: I caught him texting ALISHA. Alex; Oh wow, she always had it out for him. Kelsie: I know, I don't know what to do Alex: Maybe just talk to him about it.  Kelsie: You're right. thanks. Love you alex. Alex: Love you too. A...

Planning Blog: Location, Participants and Schedule

Image
This new project requires a lot. This time, the main goal of this final task is to make a movie film. The movie film will be about a suicide that happened because of the stress of online school. Since online school has impacted kids across the United States, my group and I thought it would be a great idea to make a film about something that's going on in today's society.  The schedule that we set up for our project is very time manageable for everyone in our group. Some of the participants in our film has jobs and other things to do so we made a schedule that will be able to fit everybody.  Schedule: 2/28/21 - 3/8/21: We will start brainstorming ideas about where the setting is, cast and what the film is truly going to be about. We will make a schedule of who will be available and what times. We will choose extras of who we want to be in our video and make sure that their availability matches ours. We will then begin brainstorming about different settings and where we wa...
