Production Blog: Where it all Happens
In our film, we have many places where we want to shoot. Though the film is a short one, we want to make about two or three locations our filming spot. The image that we put in our head for the film is it to start off with our main character. The main character, a girl, will be sitting in her bedroom about to make a terrible mistake. Since our film is about suicide and suicide prevention and we know that most people commit suicide in their own homes, we thought a bedroom would be one of the perfect places that we would film this scene in. Being that this location is being shot in a bedroom, it does mean that we will be filming in one of our group members homes. Because of the fact that we are in a pandemic, this can happen two ways. First, we can either come together as a group and film at the actors home, or the actor can record this specific scene alone. We made this a decision because we are in a global pandemic and some people wouldn't want just anyone coming into their homes. This also factors with parent approval too. Some parents may not want to film in their home for privacy reasons and some might not want different people coming in and outside their homes. Also, recording in someones home could be an invasion of privacy. To avoid this, whoever home that we decide to film at we will first get permission from their parent or guardian. If they approve of us coming into their home to film, then we will do so. Our second location for the film was going to be at a park. We decided that we will film each scene on different days so that we don't rush each scene and be tired from doing all the work in one day. The park scene will probably take place at Holiday Park in Fort Lauderdale. The park scene will be about a protest, this what we will need the extra participants for. The protest will be about what happened and how the stress of online school is hurting the children of the community. Holiday Park is a large park with different areas that we could film at so there should be no problem with the filming process if it is at the park. For the third location, we haven't really decided on where we are going to do it at or if there will even be a third location. We really just took it in mind and thought it could be good or maybe even a backup location if anything happens.
If anything happens, we have thought of backup locations. There are many parks in the Fort Lauderdale area where we can film. So if there becomes a problem, we will make sure we have backup locations to keep the filming rolling.
