CCR Music Video Conventions

In this project, many things have been done that has helped me improved from the last two filming projects that iv'e done in this class. This project was very fun and I learned more things when it comes to media and now I feel like I can do something like this again without have to struggle during the process.                   How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

The way that my product challenged conventions was basically by how we used different shots and angles and viewpoints in the music video. We captured clips from the music video from when R Kelly and Usher's moods changes throughout the video. At first you can see that both of them are happy to be speaking to each other and then we get to see how both of their expressions and emotions change throughout that time of the song from being happy to be unconcerned and upset about what they have found out.

2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

My product, or my music video engages with the audience in many ways. If the audience knows the song, they probably already know the background story of it and what happens. Maybe it's their favorite song and now they are engaged in it and want to want the recreated video of it. That also goes for anybody that knows the song and the background of it. I think the beginning of our video has also made the audience want to engage more into the video and what is happening. The music video also shows a bit of climax in it when they stat characterizing the girl that they both are talking about that the viewers might want to see more of. The part of the music video that we did was basically giving a story inside of a song so I do believe that the audience would like to engage in that if they stay tuned long enough.

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

During this project, I believed that my production skills has improved very well. This is my third time doing a project like this and I do believe that my skills has improved in a major way. Between the first project to this one, I feel like everything from speaking into a camera to editing the whole thing has really improved. In this project specifically, my production skills has improved in many ways. In filming, I am now more comfortable with my face being in the camera and I am now also more comfortable with acting out my scenes without making too many mistakes. My camera recording is much better also. I now better understand how to do my camera angles and where they are supposed to be without them looking blurry or messed up in the scene. In this music video, I used a lot of different types of camera angles like close up and high camera angles and low ones too. In the editing potion of the project, I have developed a lot too. This time around, using iMovie I noticed a lot more editing options that I added into the music videos. Different items that I used was animations into the clips, transitions as always but in this particular project, I didn't use as many due to the fact that it would take too long to transition and the music wouldn't match our mouths but there was still a lot of transition options. I used new audio options to be in the background of the video so we didn't use the audio from our separate videos because that wouldn't be right for the video.

How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

Since this is a music video project, this required a whole lot of technology. In this project, I integrated technologies in many different ways. During the project, I used different electronic devices such as my phone and iPad for recording purposes, I used my speaker so I was able to lip-sync in the background of the music that was playing so that I was able to keep track with the song. I also used other electronic devices such as my TV as a background setting of the music video to replicate what was on the original video. Softwares that I might have used to do this project was the iMovie app on my phone. The iMovie app helped me edit most of the project. Ways that this software helped me was by bettering my transitions and I was able to add music to the background so that it could correlate to the movement of our mouths. It also helped me by being able to crop different scenes in the music video so that it isn't too long or over the time space that we have. Using different softwares I learned many cool tricks such as splitting the screen either horizontally and vertically and different other types of transitions that can be used.
